It Lives!

Long time no post, I know. That doesn’t mean I haven’t been busy, though. Theatre tends to take up a lot of my time from January to March.

I did find time for two more things:

First, an update on Statuesque – I’ve done a lot of work to the eyes, nose and chin, and I’ve thrown in a background and finished the hair. I’d call it about 80% done – still to do is the shoulders, the final touches on the eyes ( I always save those for last), sign it and oil it out to even the sheen.

Next, I’ve done some work on a poster for the Christmas concert for the choir I’m in. It’s fairly sparse to save room for the title, the ticket info and such. I really like how this one turned out. It’s simple but fun.

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

Haven’t had time to work on many personal projects lately. I’ve been busy working on posters for  a few local arts groups. This one’s for an amateur theatre company for their upcoming show. I broke out the acrylics again for this for the first time in quite a while. I definitely seem to have learned a lot in the meantime – this was a lot less frustrating than my previous attempts at working with acrylic.

Arsenic and Old Lace

My theatre group will be presenting Arsenic and Old Lace this spring, and I’ve been asked to paint a portrait of grandfather Brewster for the set. It needs to be fine by the end of the month, so my Doctor Who project is on the back burner until then.

Here’s what I’ve got so far. It’s based on a work I found on wikipaintings.  Acrylic on masonite, with oil to be added later.
